A.B.C. has a nearly 15-year-long history filled with both organizational and image-shaping corporate events:
- A.B.C. Center, specializing in translation/interpretation and foreign-language teaching services, began its operations in 1995 as a structural unit of a Kyiv-based research institute.
- A.B.C. Center was spun off into a separate business entity in 1997 and was incorporated as a legal entity in the form of a private company in 1998.
- Aiming to become an industry leader in the field of translation and interpretation in Ukraine, A.B.C. Center developed a powerful marketing program in 1999-2000. Following its implementation, A.B.C. Center started gaining a significant translation/interpretation market share not only in Kyiv but all over Ukraine.
- In 1999, A.B.C. became a permanent member of the European Business Association!
- A.B.C.’s professionalism has also gained international recognition. In 2001, A.B.C. signed a number of translation/interpretation agreements with foreign companies headquartered in the United States, Canada, France, the UK, Denmark, and other countries.
- Due to the active development of both key business lines (translation/interpretation and language teaching services), a resolution was made to clearly demarcate them, and a separate business entity was set up under the name of A.B.C. Translation Agency in 2002.
- An additional line of business was also actively pursued in the field of training services. The private company A.B.C. Training Center was set up.
- A.B.C. Translation Agency was rated as a leader among Ukrainian translation agencies (2002-2006) by the Kyiv-based English-language Kyiv Post newspaper and won top positions in Kyiv Business Directory ratings. Top rating positions are also held by A.B.C.’s sister companies specializing in language teaching and training services.
- In 2003-2006, a network of sister translation agencies (the private company A.B.C. Group Translation Agency, the private company A.B.C. Language Center, and the private company A.B.C. Legal Translation Agency) was set up. These companies specialize in interpretation, interpretation equipment leasing, rare languages, legal translation and other services.
- A.B.C. Translation Agency took part in a major Ukrainian privatization project (the privatization of the Kryvorizhstal steelworks) and provided services for ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih (the company’s new name) throughout 2004-2008.
- In autumn 2007, the English-language media leader Kyiv Post awarded A.B.C. with the Best Translation Agency 2007 award.
- In 2007, A.B.C. Translation Agency and its sister companies were consolidated into A.B.C. Group of Companies.
- Apart from numerous freelancers, around 150 full-time employees work in the Group’s three main lines of business (translation/interpretation, teaching, and training services). Ukraine’s largest Group of translators/interpreters, teachers and trainers, all real experts in their fields, was thereby created.
- A.B.C. received the 2008 Industry Leader award from the National Business Rating.
- In November 2008, A.B.C. launched its A Step Together discount program to help its clients optimize their translation costs. This A Step Together program has been a huge success and has helped both A.B.C. and its clients weather the crisis.
- In 2009, keeping up with the most recent regulatory changes, the A.B.C. Med & Pharma Translation Team successfully launched its Braille translation services for pharmaceutical companies operating in Ukraine.
- The National Business Rating awarded A.B.C. with the 2009 Industry Leader award.
